Brownish Buff Sandstone
Early 11th Century

Central India

Height: 39.4 in (100 cms)

This Central Indian vertical panel would have once formed part of a stone door frame. It would have been one of two sculptures that would have occupied either side of the frame. On careful observation one can see several minute figurines. The top centre shows Adhikaranandi in the female aspect. A dancer occupies the portion below. Two large attendant figures occupy the bottom portion. The male figure to the left holds a trident. The female figure holds a flower. Playful monkeys are perched on various surrounding parts.
