KHOTAN - EAST TURKESTAN

This carpet from Khotan, East Turkestan with an unusual lilac color field of dull lialic is scattered with angular floral and geometric motifs around three roundels in orange. the central roundel is the largest , flanked by two smaller ones and each contains hooked motifs and centrepieces. It has two floral borders in brown and pink edged off with a narrow geometric strip.
Khotan in East Turkestan fell on the silk route trade and has influences from China, India and Persia amongst others. The carpets from this region are characterised by spacious designs and are usually narrow and long.
