Saffronart in Mumbai and New York

Saffronart's gallery spaces in Mumbai and New York, supported by an informative and interactive website, provide access to a substantial range of art, information and advice. The gallery space in Mumbai opened with a definitive collection of works by Francis Newton Souza in 2003 and through the years has followed this with several partner gallery exhibitions and auction previews. Saffronart's new space in New York, at the prestigious Fuller Building, is an eclectic viewing area, lounge and office, which opened with a preview of its summer 2007 online auction.

Saffronart Events

Auctions: Saffronart has held a series of highly successful online auctions, accompanied with physical catalogues and preview events. These auctions allow bidders globally to participate simultaneously in exciting sales. The most recent Saffronart online auction was held in September this year and featured 115 works by 43 contemporary Indian artists. The sale closed at a total value of USD 3.6million. This auction was preceded by the sale in June that featured 130 lots of modern Indian art by 41 artists. The sale closed at a total sale value of USD 9.2 million. Both sales included record breaking results for some of the artists featured.

Exhibitions: The year at Saffronart began with an exhibition of Sculptures which featured 95 works by 51 artists and was accompanied by a preview event in Mumbai. Followed by a book launch and exhibit of recent works by Krishen Khanna at the Royal Academy in London in March. Saffronart worked in association with Berkeley Square Gallery to put forth exhibition of paintings by G. R. Iranna and sculptures by Himmat Shah which was coupled with a book launch.

In 2006, Saffronart along with its partner galleries hosted exhibitions across the globe and online: The year started with an online exhibit of works on paper featuring 225 works by 77 artists of Modern and Contemporary Indian art. In June Saffronart partnered with Berkeley Square Gallery and featured recent works of Jagannath Panda followed by recent works by Manisha Parekh. Saffronart has also previously held other large scale exhibitions in Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles and New York in collaboration with Grosvenor Gallery. Pundole Art Galleries and Apparao Gallery.

The website extends the company's traveling exhibits and art activities beyond their physical locations. It provides convenient access to an extensive range of art for sale, along with detailed information on artists and art-related events and exhibitions. The online catalogue has several thousand works of fine art by approximately 1000 established and emerging artists, available for sale and delivery virtually anywhere in the world accompanied by a Saffronart authenticity certificate.

About Berkeley Square Gallery

Berkeley Square Gallery was founded in 1988 and has been directed since then by Peter Osborne. It is one of London's best known galleries, offering a range of paintings, prints and sculpture by established artists of the last century and by the emerging artists of the next generation.
