- - Although Raza`s works from the 1950`s and early 60`s are heavily influenced by French landscapes, later visits to India shifted his aesthetic back to an interest in mapping the terrain and colors of the land of his birth. This painting is part of Raza`s artistic exploration of the sights and sounds of Central India in the 1980s. Here, we see the earthy colours of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan in the scorched reds, yellows and dense browns.
