CAUCASIAN CARPET

A beautiful and colourful carpet from the upper section of the Caucasus mountains region between the Black and Caspian Seas. The elegant dark red central panel is drawn with a set of four vertically stacked diamonds, each of which is filled with large abstract four-petalled flowers. The open space in the central panel is filled with numerous talismanic icons for luck and protection from evil. A handsome ivory-white border surrounds the red central panel and is decorated with bold icons representing adjacent pairs of ram’s horns, a symbol of male fertility. Two narrow minor borders flank the major border and are adorned with symmetrically placed star-shaped rosettes. Beautiful colours and soft high mountain wool.

There is a black fabric sleeve sown on the back of the carpet in case it is desired to be hung
