Rishikesh likes his paintings to be such that they can be understood by everyone. A
distinct feature of his work is the figure of his own self in all his works. According to
him, later in time, this figure will help people know what was happening at various stages
in his own life. His paintings depict the thoughts that hover in his mind when he is
lonely and contemplative. At such times, thoughts of death and life after come naturally
to his mind and find their way into his work. He constantly observes and reacts to these
observations. These reactions are depicted in his paintings. He is deeply distressed by
the selfish world around him and the negative influence of westernization on our society.
He uses a lot of black and white in his work since he perceives them as pure colours. He
admires the work of Tyeb Mehta and Jatin Das and his preferred medium is oil on canvas.Rishikesh
has completed his B.F.A. in Painting from the Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai (1999). He is
currently doing his M.F.A. - I with a specialization in Creative Painting at the same
institute.
