Read More Considering in a career spanning five decades and more, Shah typifies the been there done that artists - traveling all over the country and abroad, holding solo and group exhibitions, visiting galleries and enjoying the best of the arts and literature scene. Shah graduated from the J J School of Arts in the late 1950s where he also trained to be an interior designer and worked as a teacher to sustain himself. But his big break came in 1961 when a friend invited him to Delhi for a commission work that was greatly appreciated. Nevertheless his artistic journey continued Group and Solo Exhibitions creating Republic day floats representing Gujarat (an effort which was rewarded five times), working at Gandhi centenary pavilion, New Delhi with artist Kanu Desai, and much more. His career took another turn when he traveled abroad in the 1970's. "It was the most enriching experience of my life I had a great time visiting galleries in UK, France, Switzerland, Italy, Australia, Denmark and other countries. It influenced a lot of my work later on. After my return to India I took to full time painting. His favorite subjects included monuments, women, musicians and cities. " I love music, fine arts and literature and try to bring these in my paintings" he says .His works are marked for this portrayal of women bringing out their feminine grace and charm in each of his works. The artist who is an ardent traveler has his base in Ahmedabad.
