Read More Born in 1975 in Belgaum, Karnataka, Geeta Kekobad’s paintings depict the sights and sounds she remembers from growing up in her village. Kekobad received a diploma in fine arts from the Ken School of Arts in Bangalore. The artist identifies the chaos associated with her experience with leaving home and encountering new situations as an important influence on the “depiction of human predicament” in her paintings. “I use line as a formidable element to express. My image making process remains the same in drawing, and painting. My works reflect my perception of the immediate world around. They represent the metascapes of mind,” Kekobad said about her approach to art-making. Kekobad has participated in several solo and group exhibitions all around the country. Her solo exhibitions include 'Face to Face' at the Mantra Art Gallery, Ahmedabad, and 'Time to Time and their value' at Art Chalet, Ahmedabad, both in 2009. Kekobad has also participated in group exhibitions such as 'Rainbow Expressions' at Studio Vasant Gallery, New Delhi, in 2008; 'Parivriti' at the Kalahita Gallery, Hyderabad, in 2006; and 'Colorama' at Art Chamber, Goa, in 2006. In 2000, Geeta Kekobad was honoured with a certificate of merit at the Avantika International Art Show in Delhi. In the same year, Kekobad also recieved a certificate of recognition for participation with distinction in the 'Nokia Art Awards' in Singapore. The artist currently lives and works in Ahmedabad.
